this was a great cast with Armand Assante, Chazz Palmenteri, Baldwin and talented people like Bruno Kirby, Leo Rossi and Aiello does his same character in every movie, but does it so well.....So why was this movie so forgetable? Great cast, sub-par movie

shareTHe answer is the movie bears no resemblence to the movie that as it was originally shot. The producers recast, reshot and recut the original version, which is the writer/director took his name off it.
shareYes, the cast and the movie are damn good. I just watched it a few days ago, not expecting much, but I was pretty surprised. Interesting engrossing story, great acting, this is a little cheaply made but well directed and superbly played sleeper, it will get its followers.
NOT as good as STATE OF GRACE, but also not that much worse.
Recently I saw for example the re-make of ASSAULT ON PRECINT 13, which is utterly aweful, as worse as it can get.
Compared to junk like this ONE EYED KING is a real treat, something to look out for and certainyl enjoy.
I even found it better - because of being more realistic - than the high-speed Marin Scorsese junk "THE DEPARTED", which won Oscars for delivering hardly anything.

I saw the last 20 minutes and each scene is too over the top. And I learned one thing about weddings in hell's kitchen ... they can get pretty messy. Let's have a fight and a suicide. That will be very encouraging for the bride and groom. That's what dreams are made of. Finally we get an ending scene narration that supposedly ties everything together ... NOT. This is not a jewel more like cubic zircon.
