India's first and hopefully last attempt at sci-fi

Bollywood needs to stay away from the science fiction genre! This lame, idiotic attempt at a sci-fi movie is proof of that. An alien singing and dancing?! All in a movie that's basically "E.T. meets Forrest Gump"?! It fails miserably.

I hope they dont stay away from sci-fi, but try to be original. I really hope Ram Gopal Verma does a sci-fi film soon. He currently is probably the only one who could carry it off to a high standard.

I thought the basic idea of Koi Mil Gaya was good, but I think it was a bit too similar to ET and there were bits which I thought bore resmblances to other films like Spiderman, when Peter discovers he doesn't need glasses, etc.

Also there was Johnny Lever attempting to be funny and again adding little more than stupidity to the film. Who on Earth can't think of opening windows instead of smashing them?

I think as far as romantic sci fi fictions would go if there was such a genre, it would be very good but the film wasn't particularly good in my opinion.

OMG lol, this movie sucked ass. its like the worst indian movie ever.

i hope they DO stay away from sci-fi, and if this was a high standard... i wish him luck.

how it won so many awards i dont know. i really dont think hrithik acted that good.

I thought Hrithik's acting was great! He did deserve his award:)! shot.
They should try their own original scripts but the movie was pretty new to Bollywood(I think) so I enjoyed a change for ONCE!
In bollywood everyone overacts..

LOL! By no means was Hirthik's acting great but highly-overrated piece of crap. I can't believe they gave so many awards to a movie that was a direct rip-off from ET & Mr. Rakesh Roshan adds a few shades of Forrest Gump to it. Hirthik's character was lovable but the acting is great only if you're comparing it with his other performances which are way more terrible! Overall, I think this movie was a good time-pass but as far as originality is concerned, omg! this movie is a complete no-no

PS: there's been this big buzz of KMG being the first sci-fi movie of india. Has anyone thought of the Shekhar Kapoor-directed "Mr. India". It was a comedy but I feel it had more shades of science fiction and originality than KMG anyday1

Koi Mil Gaya is no doubt a good film... People keep talkin bout ET bt do they knw... that ET by speilberg was allegdly scripted by Satyajit Ray..

reply

its not alleged , its true, my family knows ray's family and as a insider i can say that spielberg did lift the idea from a ray's script, ray could have made that film, but atleast spielberg could have credited him for it!

So, explain this to me. What do you awesome critics consider good acting? Shahrukh's whispering so low you can't hear him? Abhishek's sitting on a couch and bobbing his head to the beat? Big B himself said it, " I probably couldn't have pulled off Hrithik's role with such grace. I definetly wouldnt have been able to act that well".

I wanna see you do it better.

Why don't check out Hollywood movies such as "Forrest Gump" to see real acting

who is big b? a god? no, he's a retarded old salesman. and yes, nana patekar rings a bell? hell, id say john abraham in jism was a better performance.

reply

He is a great actor. That's for sure. If Tiger Woods had to say something about your golfing, I think you sure as hell would listen to him wouldn't you. Nana Patekar rings a bell yes. He is pretty good, mostly because he does the same goddamn thing over and over again. A fast talking common man. It doesn't wow me.

No he doesn't, if you claim so then most obviously you haven't seen most of his work. Of course the time when Dhoom:2 became a hit, i was a little shocked but now seeing people like you exist, it doesn't shock me no more. Audiences like you are the ones that have encouraged retards like Rakesh Roshan and Anees Bazmee to continue making the pile of crap that they do coz they know as long as you're there, it'll sell.

reply

Well, I did poke a hole in your "who is big b" theory, and I can do it again. I have probably seen more movies than you've heard of, I have seen a lot of Nana Patekar movies. At times, I can't tell his movies apart. He does do the same stuff over and over again. He also does movies like Welcome. I bet you loved that hunk-a-junk. Movies like D:2 become hit, because sometimes people just wanna be entertained rather than sit there and be injected with doses of reality all the time. Why do you think American Pie is such a popular series in the North America? Is it because it's a great work of art? Clearly not.

I don't know what you people want. Rakesh Roshan is a retard for trying something new? And when directors make the same old garbage love stories over and over again, you go "ugh...can they not make anything else". What makes you happy if anything?

Hard to watch after just viewing the DVD of Hinokio. You have to have patience with these films though, watch them when you have nothing else better to do and don't expect to be entertained but watch them as you would read a book from an unknown author.

I agree! Indians make great Romantic comedies/dramas, they should stick to it!

I definitely didn’t like Koi Mil Gaya. I guess my criticisms come from the fact that rather than being moved by Hrithik’s performance my friends and I were in fits of laughter. It just seemed ridiculous to see him act like that. Perhaps it would have been different with a more experienced actor. I really don’t know. The special effects were ludicrous and the alien puppet-like thing was too cute to take seriously. All in all I don’t think I’ve laughed more at a Hindi film (laughed for all the wrong reasons that is).
