I wanted to like this but...

Seriously, the DVD was a gift from my son,
I like Bollywood in general...
I love Hrithik's acting and dancing in many movies...
I thought Jadoo looked cute...
Most of the time, a Bollywood "adaptation/copy" of another movie doesn't bother me...

I WANTED TO LIKE THIS

But I thought it was terrible.

I never really connected with Rohit.
The copying from ET and other SF movies was so blatant and so irritating.
I think part of it is that I don't mind so much stealing plot elements and outlines. But when you start stealing the feel of certain impressive shots, and doing that badly, it hurts.
Hrithik is a terrific dancer. But by putting him in a harness for some of his dances, and abusing that, even before Jadoo shows up, they made everything he did look unimpressive. He was probably on wires far less time than one might suppose. But nothing looked exceptional because it all felt fake.

I'm disappointed, because I wanted to enjoy this movie.
