Sound message travels so fast!

This has been bothering me, usually I never say anything about BW movies cause im not a fan but I caught this part with my parents. The part where they're communicating with the aliens. How is the transmission instantaneous if they're light years away? Assuming a different solar system, that'd still take quite a while for light to travel, let alone sound.

Assuming its a photon light signal that broadcasts a sound message with some encapsulation of some sort, still, like INSTANTLY?! What the F? lol

I always kinda assumed that the aliens were in some base within our solar system, they seem to be visiting earth often, a news report says such a craft was seen over bangalore also.. so they might be within out solar system...

Ok, same Solar System. But still, light takes 8 minutes to get to Earth from Sun. Sound is so much slower than that. Even in the same city, if you see lightening, you hear the thunder good few seconds later, not instantaneously

sound doesnt travel in space at all, one way or the other, its a vacumn...

so the entire plot is kinda invalid...

yeah that's why I said some sort of EMR which encrypts a sound message

"Even in death, I gave you life. I GAVE YOU LIFE!"
