Anyone know how accurate the depiction of Napoleon's personality was?

I'm curious how accurate his portrayal is generally considered to be by Napoleon biographers and historians.

I'm not a Napoleon expert, but I read somewhere that people loved him because he always took blame for his faults and never placed blame on others when he personally failed. This series seems to depict just the opposite.

It is fairly accurate, as far as historically based TV miniseries go.

There are some aspects of the real Bonaparte's personality/behavior that aren't really touched on, but should have been.

- His deep, abiding fascination with and personal study of science and scientific innovations.
- He detested religious discrimination of all kinds. (He struck down anti-Jewish laws & policies not only in France, but throughout the French Empire.)
- Personal Leadership: Napoleon took great care to be seen among the common soldiers; to talk with them, to listen to their concerns & complaints, and also reward them. It's why so many marched with him from one end of Europe to the other, willing to lay down their lives for their emperor.
