Josephine

Josephine de Beauharnais is my favorite historical character. And even more: she is my ideal of a woman. She was woman in a full sense of this word. Doting mother. Perfect wife. Charming mistress. She was unfaithful, yes. But this was because she couldn't live not a day without love. She was made to love and to be loved. Perhaps she betrayed Napoleon sexually when she slept with another man, but she never betrayed him like a friend and partner. I have great love and affection for her. I've collected almost every her biography I could find in Russian, French and English. And I quite love how Rossellini portrayed her in this production though she wasn't at all perfect choice to play her (at least physically).
