I love you Hatfield!

I lived one street over from the Martin's house while I was going to Uni in Hatfield. Was not about when the filming was going on cos they did it in the summer, but it really is one odd town.
Over the years we were there almost every one of my mates got mugged and I even got attacked by a seven year old who jumped out of a tree at me to steal my bag of crisps! (I held on to them tight and he didn't get them! Ha ha! They were Monster munch afterall- the nice flavour!) Everything But the Girl even wrote a song about the town (Hatfield 1980) Won't go into details but the content does nothing for the towns tourism!

All this, and yet we really loved it and spent three very happy years there. Long live the Galleria, Fattys restaurant and Hatfield House! In my opinion, way more films should be set there!

I can't believe it! I loved that place, it was way better than the Mai Tai place next door! My friends were gutted when I told them! Out of interest, whats there now?

The song, Hatfield 1980, is on an Album called Temperamental. Its quite good actually, its for sale on itunes etc. It says how scary those under-road roundabout walkways are and how they were meant to make the town better but just seem dangerous. Anyway, it tells the true story about how a friend of theirs got stabbed in one of these and taken to hospital. Its been ages since I heard it properly but I think the friend was alright in the end. Even so, for obvious reasons its not the happiest song going!

My brother relocated through work and lived there for about 3 years in the mid-late 90s. Went down a few times and had some good nights out there - Hatfield arms, Red Lion (by the station, Eight Bells, Horse & Groom. Some good takeaways as well, particularly the curry house by the Eight Bells. Not forgetting the Galleria of course!

I always thought The Galleria was in Potters Bar :s

And the pet shop they go to is Jollye's in Enfield.
I live about 5 mins from it and got one of my doggies from there.
Horrible pet shop lol.

NAH Fatt arbuckles was further down then Nandos! What used to be Fatty arbuckles is not called something like chilli or chilji or something! Nandos used to be a different resturant/bar thing.

My friend lived in the actual house (at the time) in Hatfield, on Comet Way, where they film it.

From what she said, Robbie Williams was meant to be in the film and they were all rather disappointed that he never turned up.
