Out Cold and Casablanca

Anyone notice the many references to Casablanca?

reply

Yeah, I know, imagin a movie thats a loose remake of Casablanca having so many similar things in it.

reply

haha yeah i love this movie, but i almost cringed at the part when he'e like "i thught i told you never to play that..." blatently straight out of casablanca - one of the best movies of all time

i haven't seen this for a while? are there any other references apart from the dude being called Rick, and the plane scene at the end?

I wish I could think of something witty to put here... but I can't.

This movie is a complete parody of Casablanca. Like you said "one of the best movies of all time", being that it has inspired many movies and many movies have copied that love triangle that really took off in Casablanca.

But Out Cold is a spoof of Casablanca...

"i thought i told you never to play that..."
"Play it one more time for old time's sake"
"Last night we said a lot of things"
"One thing i know is you're getting on that plane, with Barry"

reply

Also, "Of all the bars in all the ski towns, she had to walk into this one".

"Weirdness was all he cared about. Weirdness and sex and plenty to drink."

reply

It's a sign of desperation when a film has to constantly reference another, but at least they found a much better source of inspiration.

reply

When it's a comedic remake, it's NOT desperation to reference the movie being re-made? Haven't y'all ever heard of parody? Or do you all watch Scary Movie and go "Man, they're just ripping off Scream!"
