Actually if you listen to the commentary you will hear that all of the exterior shots are filmed in B.C not alaska. And it just makes sense to do it that way it's cheaper for them.

so to clarify...movie was hot in Canada, starring 2 Canadians, Aj cook and the other girl.

Canada kicks ass!!!

that's correct!!...actually I just watched the movie...and always look for the credits..and at the end says BC wich means British Columbia, wich means is Canada terriroty...how many people take geo class these days?...what a shame. Ciao!

all the town shots were filmed in salmo, british columbia, and most of the mountain shots were filmed somewhere in alaska

the town shots are correct but the village shots and any shot with the lodge or actual resort in it are filmed at Hemlock Valley Resort, which is about an hour and a half from vancouver.

I realize this is eons after the fact, but the lodge sequences and the King of the Mountain race were filmed at Hemlock Valley Ski Resort 2 hours west of Vancouver British Columbia. I think some of the rest of it was at Whistler, 2 hours drive north of Vancouver BC. I also think that some of it was filmed in Salmo BC.

A lot of the outdoor scenes were filmed at Hemlock Mountain in BC. There were also shots at Grouse Mountain in BC...the blue gondola for example...it's the old gondola that's usually just used for as a service tram.
