Underrated

I thought this movie was hilarious. I wish it was a little more known. The scene where they spin the car is one of the funniest things I've seen

reply

I agree, not nearly enough people have been able to enjoy this movie. The car scene is one of the best pranks you could pull on your buddy, and how about when Pig Pen hits the Dr. in the wheelchair to see if he has feeling in his legs.

I totally agree that this movie was underated. I remember not wanting to watch the movie when it came out in the theater because my brother wanted to watch it and he picks out horrible movies. Then one day he bought the movie and we watched it. I have to say, I was laughing through most of the movie...it was sooooo funny. I had to tell my brother that he picked a good movie. Now that it is November, we are watching the movie all the time to pump us up for skiing and snowboarding this winter.

reply

I love this movie! It's possibly the funniest snowboarding movie I've ever seen!! I was cracking up through most of it! Anything with Pigpen has got to be halarious! Anybody who thinks this is a bad movie is just...werid. I agree, parents wouldn't like it, because they just don't get it. My mom got most of it, but didn't think it was anywhere as funny as I thought it was.

This movie rules.

this movie frickin rocked! how many people tried to do the King of the mountain thing after they saw this movie? haha it just didn't get the
credit it deserved, so many moments when i couldn't stop laughing.

the jacuzzi casanova part was the best, i love how rick asks "rough night?"
and he goes "I've had worse"

reply

Okay, I've got to admit, I tried the King Of The Mountain. It's become a ritual with me and my friends: They all come over to my house Friday night, we watch Out Cold, then we get up early Saturday morning, go to the mountain, and attempt it. So far, I've lost.

reply

Heh... not all parents hate it. My 80 year old grandfather thought this movie was hilarious.

reply

This movie is very underrated and probably has cult status right now. Speaking of "King Of The Mountain", I saw a comic online that made a reference to that scene, and that's pretty cool.

reply

Oh man, this movie is so underratted. Its just so stupid, you just have to laugh at it. I love the cybersex part, and the car prank, and everything. Me and my friend still laugh hysterically at this movie. "Thats my moto, that and everybody wang chung tonight". Oh God i love that line.

Maybe music isn't dead, maybe we just forgot what it fcking sounded like!

[deleted]

"Cult status" is right. I saw half of this movie on Comedy Central, and when I went snowboarding for the first time, I convinced my friends to rent it and watch it with me. We were dying it was so funny sometimes...yeah it's pretty predictable and whatever, but it's a snowboarding movie. What can you expect? I think it's awesome and totally underrated.

But not something I'd want to show my parents...

I love the part when the hot chick walks into the bar and the guy is talking and he all of a sudden says "I have to stop talking for a second" in the middle of his conversation. I love the drug test part too "I don't have to take a test to tell you that I do drugs" and also "can you get an STD from a polar bear?" LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did someone say....King of the Mountian mountian mountian.......

reply

cult status can be okay. but it should be more well known. I saw it for the first time last night and died laughing. ^-^ it has an amazing soundtrack too. The spinning car was brilliant. Me and my friends are like, if any of you guys get really hammered in the near future.. thats so you!

reply

me and my buddies have a homeless friend who acts just like the bald fat guy.....

reply

I completely agree with you!!! I didn't even know about it until a guy that works at the video store started talking about it when I was standing by the rack it was on. He told me it was hilarious, so I rented it. It was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The spinning car thing was brilliant! I've now made every single one of my friends watch it and they all loved it too! The music rocked in it too. I really don't understand why it wasn't bigger than it was. That's how cult movies are most of the time and I really see this becoming a cult classic!

reply

I don't think this movie was underrated at all. It was totally not what I expected. I still liked the movie, but, I was dissapointed. There was only 2 major snowboard scenes in the entire movie. And the end snowboard scene wasn't even that good. If it had more snowboard scenes, then I think this movie should be underrated. But, it's not underrated at all.

reply

This movie was underrated, all that about this movie didnt hav enough snowboarding scenes is all *beep* this movie wasnt some snowboard documentary, it was a comedy about a snowboarder and his life, not about all the tricks he cud pull off.

reply

So what your saying is, this movie, even though it was about a bunch of snowboarders who love to snowboard, wasnt' supposed to have a bunch of snowboarding in it. Even though the cover of the movie has a bunch of snowboarding and snowboarders on it. So this movie was supposed to be about a guy who met a girl, dumped him, he spends all of this time feeling bitter about it, and then he gets over her in the end. How gay is that. This movie was heela not underrated.

reply

What Im saying is, this movie did hav enough snowboarding scenes cuse it's not a snowboarding movie, its a comedie featuring snowboarders and their life in a skitown in alaska. if u want more snowboarding scenes watch perfect moments, the adventure continues or somethin cuse this COMEDY (not snowboarding documentary) has enough snowboarding scenes to carry the movie

reply

I agree with you. This movie is supposed to be a silly comedy about people in their younger 20's that work on a mountian. I really liked this movie because it made me laugh and was different. I don't think I would like it as much if it was all snowboarding etc. There was an even distribute of everything. If you are wanting to watch snowboarding or snow sports...watch "Snow Motion" or "Action 54321" on Fox Sports. This is a comedy movie, that I think is great. That is like saying you don't like the movie "Grind" because they don't skateboard the whole time, or the movie "blue Crush" because they don't show enough surfing. These are movies, like erik said, not documentaries.

Zach Galifinakis is not a funny comedian, he is a hilarious comedian. It's too bad that this is the only movie I can stomach where he appears for longer than three minutes (he's in that Love Hewitt movie for a while).

I watched Bubble Boy because he was featured, but I wasn't disappointed.

Saw him in Baltimore at a club and he the funniest guy alive, well, maybe sharing the stage with Dane Cook.

To stay on topic--yep, underrated. Those of you who want snowboarding and skiing with funny moments rather than vice versa, watch any Warren Miller movie.

Just figured I'd chime in here:
I love this movie. It's the movie that goes in the DVD player whenever I'm doing things around the house and need something fun in the background. I've exposed many of my friends to it and they all love it as well.
Now my question is simply what the ones saying "Adults won't like it," consider an adult?
I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, just honest curiosity.
I'm 26, married, have a home, and a career, so I'd like to think I fall into the "adult" category.
Also one of my all time favorite movies is Cassablanca, which is possibly the key reason I love this movie in a whole. I always tell people "Imagine Cassablanca, except on a ski resort." Sheer brilliance.

reply

ok, figure this one out, I live in Vail colorado, home to the biggest ski resort in north america, and this did not come to the theaters here!!! I had to wait until it came out on DVD to see it and it is one of my favorite movies of all time.

in the lesbian chatroom scene, if u look VERY closly, right after eric growls (right after one of them types OH MY GOD!) when you see the screen, the first post you see is ":sally: so how about you give me your address?" and my question is why does eric say "chole: oooooo, im getting really hot!"?

Oh, my God, the car spinning is one of the funniest things ever!

I think it's moreso because Luke pounds the CRAP out of Pig Pen on the horn. . . HYSTERICAL!

Yes, it IS VERY underrated. I think when it came out, it was kind of a lousy time for dumb comedies. If it was released NOW, I'll bet it would have done much better.

I like the sort of "cult" following that it has, though. Makes it all the more exciting when you quote it and someone goes, "OH, MY GOD!! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!"

I'm a big sports guy, and this movie did it for me. We watch it before our yearly trip to Aspen (where the beer flows like wine and women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capustrano, and hilarity ensues every time. If you don't scream "Sieze the Carp" with Pigpen, you haven't really lived.
