what would be the point? Conan the barbarian isn't enough for you? I do believe that it's about time to get a new medival movie with gore and blood, but I don't see the live action version of this anime. Anime has a lot of flexibilities in terms of visualizing stuff. I think it will be quite impossible to make this anime into a live action movie. *shrug*

Read Jack Weatherford's Genghis Khan and the making of the moderrn world. I wish someone can make the book into an anime or a live action movie.

My life isn't any better than yours.

Nah, I think they nailed it pretty good with the Anime and Manga. Besides, the budget would be taken up by copius amounts of fake blood.
On the other hand, if it was done with a budget about as high as LOTR, then perhaps, but it would need a grittier style more akin to Saving Private Ryan. Less Fantasy, more dirt, blood, realism. Though I highly doubt anyone would 'go' a budget high enough to make this turn out well, they won't even bring the PS2 game to Europe or the States (granted, video games and movies are different realms).
Essentially, if it was done well, and remained true to the source material, I think it could turn out good, but the likely hood of that happening is nil. Especially with Hollywood's insistance that everything be made to appeal to the "Mass Market Consumer" which really means "Lowest common denominator" and if you make something for the lowest common denominator, you get something for the lowest common denominator.
It would also need a skilled Director (Ridley Scott comes to mind), though I don't know of any who would take the risk.(Though Mr. Cameron picked up Gunnm, and if anyone can do it, he can).

what you said about Ridley Scott is a pretty good Idea. He can do action films (gladiator), monster movies (with the help of Giger, in Alien)and dark univers (Blade Runner had a really good mood, not the same, I know)

Of course there should be, any fan would know that!! the anime, tells one side of the story and the manga, the other, of an epic story that could be translated very successfully... also it could be screwed too(spider-man, spawn) But as a fan: the risk is so worth it. We as fans should be sending the mangas/ anime to any small time directors... their having the success with creator controled projects like saw, hellboy, ect.

It would be very doable....But it would have to be broken up in to several long movies in a series.
