How did Crystal know that... (spoilers!)

...jackalopes were fictional? At the end it is revealed that she was an alien all along and I'm pretty sure she hadn't been on Earth very long if I remember correctly. So I doubt she would have known that jackalopes weren't real unless they are also aliens (which is implied at the very end). Any thoughts?
