How did the dragon get to the castle?
Sorry, didn't get that part. Did they mark the way from London to the castle somehow so the dragon could easily find their secret hiding place and burn it?

How many dragons do you know? Let alone how many dragons have ever Lived on earth when Man was here? your statement has about as much fact in it as wet tissue paper. I mean really Pretty impressive we have yet to ever find a dragon skeleton, Just my 2 cents

Your theory makes sense. Many of the fantasy books I've read have mentioned in one form or another the heightened sense of smell. Humans and animals would be extremely easy to smell, unless their scent is somehow disguised.
