sequel would be nice, but won't happen

I wasn't sure if i would enjoy this film, as all the reviews were rather luke warm. I was incredibly surprised to find a quirky and original gem, that never lost it's pace or originality.
*plot spoiler*
The ending showed them riding off into the sunset and suggested the possibility of them having more adventures with their scanner!
*spoiler ended*
I admit that sequels usually spoil everything, but the original had so much energy and chemistry that i thought a second part could just continue the fun!
We could follow the crime cracking duo, as they try to move on with their lives, but are drawn to prying into the wrongs of the world through the scanner. The police and their previous enemies could follow them too!
I doubt there will be a sequel, as i don't think this was hugely popular at the box office. Never mind, it was just a thought, but i was wondering if there was anyone else out there who thinks a sequel could be hilarious?!

I would love to see a sequel to this funny and sweet film.
But perhaps, if a sequel ever gets made, itt will be blessed by the fact that it isn't a Four Weddings and a Funeral. A sequel may be made to ACT as a film standing up on its own rights, yet use the characters from the first film.
As soon as the film tries to lean back on self-reference it will fail, the filmmakers would actually have to find a WHOLE NEW story for a sequel.
I'm totally up for a Minnie Driver headed British film franchise.

Unfortunately it is the 9th biggest money loser of all time (in terms of percentage wise). It cost 10 million to make, but only made $220,000 world wide (loss of 98.9%).

I enjoyed it though! Wouldnt mind a sequel.

Can we see some more figures?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0253126/business

Does that include sales to cable, overseas (beyond the US/UK market), pay per view and other secondary markets?

A sleeper it was not, but that doesn't mean it won't have a more extended life later on. "It's a Wonderful Life" was not a box office success originally, either.
