Can anyone Summarize the ending execution scene?

If you ever check back on this, here is what I think happened.

Krupp, Franke, Ebert, Baumann, Schenke, Kriezmann and Heydrich were ordered to execute deserters and a coward (the one reciting). I am not too sure what is happening in the background, but the SS are in charge of the execution. The deserters are already lined up and blindfolded. Kriezmann tries to avoid taking part but the SS officer drags him into the line. It's interesting to note that Baumann is facing the coward. Now as they fire only the coward is left standing. It may be that Baumann's gun malfunctioned, or maybe he couldn't fire at first. But as the coward seems surprised to be still alive and well, Baumann shoots him through the board he is wearing, then shoots him again. When they are all down, the officers make sure they are dead. Engels and Schenke (maybe good friends?) pose while standing on the deserters and taking photos. Baumann looks into the grave they are in and sees the coward's Iron Cross. Now either Baumann took the Iron Cross, or was awarded one for shooting the deserters but feels that he doesn't deserve it, so he buries it. Maybe he buries it because the deserters were buried too.

Hope that helps.
