wait, IS this One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest or is it BASED on it?

Because there does seem like there are many similarities, but it doesn't nessecarily mean that this movie is a teenage version of it.
Similarities:
1. A new wild patient gets admitted to a psychiatric ward.
2. A quiet Native American befriends the main character.
3. Main character refuses to believe he's crazy.

There are more but it stil seems like it could be just a coinsedence. Does anyone know for sure?

reply

The main character isnt what I would consider crazy. =P

I havent watched One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest, so I cant really say, but I do doubt it, maybe there was a bit of inspiration there, possible similarities, but I doubt its based on it.

McMurphy in "cuckoo's nest" pretended to be crazy to stay out of jail...he figured the hospital would be a walk in the park...

little did he know...

I read the actual book "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." By Ken Kesey (I think I spelled that right). Having read that I can tell you pretty confidently it's not based on "One Flew...". That doesn't mean it couldn't have been INSPIRED by it. Then again, there are probably a million possible inspirations for a movie like this.

I thought the same thing....that it may have been inspired or loosely based on it. There were definite parallels (that you covered) between the two.

This movie is an adaptation of One Flew Over, the creators of this movie took One Flew Over and changed it and reformed it into their own artwork, but it did start out as One Flew Over.

Out of curiosity, where did you hear/read that? I see a few similarities, but very few. The overall theme and message of the movie was too different than that of the book and original movie. At least in my opinion.

I can't stand these kind of, comparison's, it's just like, saying
Perk's Of Being A Wallflower is a copy or inspired of, Catcher In The Rye
when, they were both, personal and honest, but just cause, one person's idea
or art was, 30, 40 year's ago, doesn't mean, someone can't feel the same
now. It's just stupid when, people make one person's accomplishment or achievment, a fake or making it their style.
