I agree Izznogood - I saw your post earlier and decided to check out this movie, or mini tv series as I believe it was, and it is vastly superior in just about every respect to Heist, and I'm a fan of Heist, I'm not trying to talk it down.
I just finished watching 'The Great Bookie Robbery' and want to recommend it to fans of good heist movies.If you haven't seen it give it a look - you won't regret it. Although the actors were mostly unknown to me, the performances were solid, believable and impressively well-acted. The story is a gem - based on fact apparently.
Heist is, I think, a very good movie for what it is but I can't help feeling the smart dialogue which is obviously supposed to enhance the 'cleverness' of the plot and it's characters is sometimes too clever for it's own good,and thereby only serves to expose the movie's weaknesses.
I just checked it out on Amazon. It's a 4 1/2 hour, Australian mini-series. But it is in PAL format. I have a universal player, that will play anything, but the price is $ 15.00, used. Add the $ 4.00 shipping, comes to $ 19.00. I will hold off.
