At the end, when Fran and the nephew take off with what they THINK is the gold, she gives Hackman a little nod before they leave with the 'loot'

Was she still 'playing' the nephew??

Could be. It's the exact same look she gave Campbell Scott at the very end of Spanish Prisoner, which did indicate that what we thought we were witnessing as "the end" was not at all.

Why still play the nephew, when his uncle is already dead.

YES!!!!! she was playing Jimmy all along.

Jimmy was a freakin idiot. She wouldn't choose him over Hackman. When he said
Chinese baby, she nodded to Joe as if to say I get it and I will meet you there.

Wherever "chinese baby" was code for, that is where she would meet him.
When, not sure, but I am positive she was playing the nephew.

She never seemed into Jimmy at all.
And when Hackman said "suit up" that was so obvious that she was supposed to do what she did. Make the nephew trust her.

Joe knew DiVoto was going to double cross him so he double crossed first.
