I love that house

I don't know whether it was the location or the exterior design or both, but I loved that house. It seems to be a location in Staunton VA; does anybody know anything more about it, like the address? Did they find an old run-down house and film the later scenes first then fix it up for the earlier scenes, or did they make it run down-looking later? Did they film any of the interior?

Just saw the film again. Did a little online research and came up with the following.

If I ever get to Virginia (highly unlikely), it'll be one of my must-see sites.

This is 4 years late, but I actually see that house every day. It's on my mail route. There are a lot of houses like it in Staunton. The city is very big on history and maintaining its historic houses. It has had some touch ups done over the past few years, but is still very much recognizable as the house in the movie.

I always loved that house too. I think it was for sale for $160,000. But is now off market. It's right across the street from Wilson Park in Staunton Va. The spot where Anthony Hopkins humiliates the bully about wearing his mom's clothes.
