The Very Best of GLOW on DVD

I was thrilled to see a GLOW DVD at my local Best Buy and I did like it, but for a title like "The Very Best of GLOW", I was disappointed. It was ONE EPISODE from Season 4 with two bonus matches. GLOW had two rosters, one in seasons 1 and 2 and another in seasons 3 and 4. Season 1 was the best in my opinion and they should release the complete first season as a set. I loved Americana, Olympia, Ebony, Tammy Jones, Sally the Farmer's Daughter, California Doll, Little Egypt, the Fiji sisters, Tina Ferrari and Ashley Cartier. The bad girls were really nasty--Colonel Ninotchka, Palestina, The Heavy Metal Sisters, Sara and Mabel, Matilda the Hun, The Head Hunters, Attache, Spanish Red, The Housewives and the Princess of Darkness. The second season was a continuation of season one but without several of the original cast members, adding only a few new girls (Amy the Farmer's Daughter, Angel, Dementia and Sugar). In fact, the bad girls outnumbered the good girls! The only good parts of season 2 were Lisa Moretti (Tina Ferrari aka Ivory of the WWE) and Ninotchka suffering her first defeat (at the time she was THE MOST HATED GLOW GIRL). Season 3 brought in the "new regime"--they were OK, but after watching the DVD I had forgotten how annoying Gremlina, Tiffany Mellon and unseen commentator Motor Mouth Mike Morgan were!! My favorite moment from then was when Daisy finally ditched Gremlina and joined the good girls. The last episode in 1990 saw Daisy win the crown. Extras include clippings from the old GLOW Magazine (I still have issues 2 through 6!)

I loved GLOW and it deserved better DVD treatment than this. I credit GLOW for getting me into the WWE!! In my area it was on at 12Midnight Saturdays after WWE Wrestling Challenge.

when did the chick suzie spirit get her arm broken when they showed it like 400 times and who broke it

In Season One, Susie Spirit's arm was broken by Mina (pronounced MEE-nuh) the Head Hunter during a tag match pitting the Cheerleaders (Susie Spirit and Debbie Debutante) and the Head Hunters (Mina and Mika). It happened when an aerial maneuver went awry. They played that storyline for several weeks but rather than Susie facing Mina in a rematch, they had Susie wrestle the "leader" of the Head Hunters, Manna, who became the only Head Hunter in Season Two.

For the record, this was Mina and Mika's only tag team match on TV, they also appeared in a battle royal. Mika did team with Manna in one of Season Two's matches (against Little Egypt and Tara the Southern Belle), but the original Head Hunters were never seen again after Season One.

They should release GLOW: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON on DVD with every show from that season. I have a VHS release of their first show which featured three wrestlers who were never in the series (Jailbait and the tag team Salt and Pepper) and the main event pitted Tammy Jones against Matilda the Hun for the GLOW crown.

OK, I found volumes 2, 3 and 4:

VOLUME 2 is the season three finale with the end of the Run for the Rubies tournament pitting Godiva against Cheyenne Cher. Other matches: The Widow Woman in Black (formerly Dementia) against Ninotchka (now a "good girl" wrestling in a pink suit); Tulsa and Babe the Farmer's Daughter vs. Daisy and Beastie; Tiffany Mellon vs. Major Tanya (who does a good imitation of Tiffany's annoying laugh) and Mountain Fiji, Thunderbolt and Lightning vs. Big Bad Mama, MTV and Hollywood. Bonus matches are from season two: Little Fiji, Tina Ferrari and Ashley Cartier vs. Angel, Hollywood and Vine (commentary by Sir Miles Headlock--a ripoff of Max Headroom--and Colonel Nonitchka); and Attache' vs. Tina Ferrari (Sir Miles Headlock and Hollywood on commentary).

VOLUME 3 has two Run for the Rubies second round matches: Vicky Victory (subbing for the injured Justice) vs. Daisy and Cheyenne Cher vs. Beastie; also Mountain Fiji and Zelda the Brain vs. Big Bad Mama and Melody Trouble Vixen (MTV) in a "loser does the winner's laundry" match; and Godiva vs. Ninotchka. Bonus matches: Mount Fiji vs. Beastie and Star, and MTV & Big Bad Mama vs, the Cheerleaders (Vicky and Cher). This volume also has the episode of "Life in the GLOW House" where the bad girls are at Trump Tower and set up Daisy for a prank where she thinks that Donald Trump wants to take her out to dinner--but Daisy has the last laugh thanks to Godiva!. There's also a promo for "Behind GLOW's Doors" hosted by none other than Mean Gene Okerlund!

VOLUME 4, another Season 4 episode: Justice vs. Big Bad Mama, Vicky Victory vs. Daisy, ANOTHER GLOWING MOMENT with Vicky and Cher against Beastie and Habana; and a Street Fight with the Farmer's Daughters (Sally and Babe) teaming with the Park Avenue Knockouts (Roxy Astor and Tiffany Mellon) against the foursome of Beastie, Godiva, Hollywood and MTV--the back cover art lists MTV as "Vine", but one time I got them mixed up too. They both had big hair and big grins. Bonus matches: Major Tanya vs. Roxy Astor, Sally the Farmer's Daughter vs. Evangelina and Ninotchka vs. Stinky.
