Rabbit-Proof Fence ~ not bad

Not a bad movie, but not a great one either.
It's scenery is interesting, the acting is good, and certainly the story is worth telling.
But I found it rather tedious/lengthy.
I'd give it a 5 out of 10...no..make that a 6 out of 10...
and I'm glad I watched it, nonetheless.

I agree that for a film of just over 90 minutes in length, it felt a lot longer.

Apart from Kenneth Branagh, the acting IMO could best be described as adequate, given the story that was being told.🐭

I thought the best part about was the length - but the story was interesting. The acting by the kids was less than riveting, but I imagine getting great aboriginal child actors isn't as easy as it sounds. Sometimes, like during a chase scene when one of the kids was obviously suppressing a smile, I just thought "take 2." They needed some Kubrick-like precision.

Also, how were the kids "half-caste" when their mom & dad (the tracker, right? Or did I miss something) are obviously full on aborigine? Finally, the kidnapping of half-castes and then breeding the "colored" blood out - okay fine, but was Branaugh going to force breed the half-castes with white people, then do it again? At the end the girl goes off and breeds with someone in the desert, presumably aborigine, then her 3 year old girl and she were taken again? Walked home again? What in the world was anyone's plan? I just don't get any of it, unless the film failed to explain it properly to an idiot like me!
