No disrespect intended. I do plan on reading David O'Connor novel. Movie is a lost gem in my opinion. I recently purchased this from a bargain bin. I have since watched it multiple times. This and other movies such as To live and die in L.A.,Way of the gun, Spartan, are always fresh after multiple viewings.

Joaquin Phoenix has said he can't do comedy, but he has proved his comedic timing in this and other roles.
This is a very sly film.
edit" I just watched "Get Shorty" and I see the similarities.
There's a coolness to both. Great writing and direction.
