I adore Eddie Izzard, but I've heard some pretty terrible things about this film. Is Eddie being in it enough to buy it? I know he's the second lead...but I'm just not sure I want to waste two hours of my life on a movie that's supposed to be so bad.
The film is definately worth seeing. It is terribly underrated and Eddie Izzard's role is frequent and perfectly sound. His comedy even shines through in German.

I bought this film because of the comedy genious of Mr Izzard, however, I thought the other actors were great too. Ok, so its not an Oscar winner, but its a great Sunday afternoon film! I think you've just got to take the whole thing with a pinch of salt, and not take it too seriously. Go on... feet up, cup of tea, and watch it for a bit of escapism, not to rate the actors professional ability, stanislavski approach to method acting blah blah blah. Cake or death anyone?
the first time i watched it was when i was 13. i wasn't interested. but like, when david birkin came out. i sort of fell in love... a fetish, you say? men in dresses? god, i hope not. i guess it was his wimpy innocence... geez!!! I WAS THIRTEEN FOR CHRISSAKE!!!
I absolutely agree. It is third or fourth class film. One cannot actually know whether it is an adventure, a parody of adventure, a comedy, a parody of comedy, or what .... However, I didn’t find it funny at all, terrible boring and pure waste of time.
Have just seen this film: I bought it as many others did, simply for the Eddie factor, and Eddie and the other supporting actors are pretty darn good in it. The only actor that i'd say was bad would be Matt Le Blanc... but then I'm not a fan of his anyway. There are some funny moments, mainly involving Eddie, but there's also some quite sweet and touching parts- like those involving the Acting major whatshisname. If you find it for less than £3, get it. But don't expect any special features...grr...
Glad to hear that I am not the only one watching it and thinking "Good for Joey, he got a job." I thought the same thing watching Lost in Space. I don't care what you say - I bought Ocean's Tweleve so I could have the tiny bit of Eddie that was on there. The man is a genius!
Don't worry, it's shorter than 120 minutes, so you won't waste two hours of your life. In fact, it's a funny movie, but most American's won't get the humor due to the cross-dressing.
