I got the DVD a couple of days ago and I finished watching it last night. I think it still stands up but it's the nostalgia factor that really gets you.

Mind you, nostalgia was a lot better in the old days.

You are aware that there's an invention called television and on this invention they show shows, right?

reply

Does anyone know where it was filmed? Early on they showed a shop with a newspaper hording with "Shropshire Star" on it.

It looks like Mid Wales somewhere but I don't recognise it. Some of the actor's "Welsh" accents are a bit faulty too!

Found out from the DVD commontary that it was filmed in Yorkshire which would explain why the scenery looked strange to me!

I've just finished watching the series again for the furst time in over 23 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting from the three main leads is superb after all these years whilst the script and dialogue continue to sparkle.
The final episode still manages to shock half way through and right at the end.
The incidental music by Alan Parker remains as haunting as ever (I would love to see again the other series he provided music for entitled 'Andy Robson back in 1982 .

I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who has fond memories of this CH4 classic.

I have seen this twice before tonight (1983 and 1985) and when I got the DVD I thought I would be looking through a gap in my hands... Not true; still up to date and sharp. I'm still in shock how this has dated less than me.
