2 star match= A .5 star IMDB rating

1/2 star match = A .1 star IMDB rating
Dud= A O IMDB rating

Tonight we review Wrestlemania 7. This is the Mania that was moved to a smaller arena because of poor ticket sales. Mcmahon would blame the move on terrorist activity. Also most consider this the worst Mania since 2, maybe slightly better than 2. So let's analyze and see what we get.

Match 1: Rockers Vs Haku and The Barbarian. Rockers start fast. Barbarian stops the momentum when he catches both Rockers with a clothesline that twirls both guys simultaniously. Rockers gain the uper hand again and finish Haku with a missle dropkick and Michaels scores the pin after a cross body off the top rope at 8:18. A good tag opener. I say 2 1/2 stars.

Match 2: Texas Tornado Vs Dino Bravo. Boring. A standard match that you would see on monday night. Bravo gets the side suplex but Kerry kicks out. Tornado hits the discus punch and the pin at 2:46. 1 star.

Match 3: The British Bulldog Vs The Warlord. Warlord gets the full nelson and Davyboy breaks it and gets the running powerslam for the win in 2:24. feh 1 star. Davyboy could put on a better match than this.

Match 4: Tag Team Championship Match: Hart Foundation Vs The Nasty Boys. About as entertaining as the first tag match so nothing to really complain about. Nastys run into eachother midmatch making them out like bumbling heels. Bret goes outside and pops Jimmy Hart for being a pest. The megaphone ends up in the ring and one of the Nastys smacks The Anvil in the back of the head and score the pin at 8:54. New Tag Champs. Jimmy Hart is estatic. 2 1/2 stars. This would be the Hart Foundations last ppv tag match.

Match 5: Blindfold Match: Jake The Snake Roberts Vs The Model Rick Martel. Martel sprayed Jake with arrogance back in oct 90 and temporarily blinded him. After months of chasing Jake got Martel in this match. Crowd is really into it, one of the most entertaining mania matches as far as fan interaction is considered. Martel makes lots of mistakes because of the hood. Jake uses the crowd to find Martel. Martel gets the boston crab for a few seconds but Jake uses the ref for leverage to power out then scores the DDT at 6:10. I liked it. 2 stars.

Match 6: The Undertaker Vs Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Undertakers Mania debut. Taker owns all of this thing. Snuka gets in a handful of chops and headbutts but Taker ends it with the tombestone in 4:02. 1 1/2 stars.

Match 7: Retirement Match: Ultimate Warrior Vs Machoking Randy Savage. Losers leaves the WWF or until said time Mcmahon needs either guy back to make money.
Kickass match. Miss Elizabeth is sitting at ringside. Queen Sherri helps out alot in this one, and takes her share of bumps. Savage hits 5 or 7 flying elbow drops but still cannot put Warrior away. Warrior fights back and hits the gorrilla press slam. Savage kicks out. Warrior starts acting more irratic than usual and decides he's gonna leave the arena. Savage attacks him, Warrior is pissed now. He starts flying into Savage with shoulder tackles that send Macho out of the ring. Warrior drags him to the center of the ring and pins a barely conscious Savage with one foot at 20:33. Savage now must retire. Queen Sherri goes nuts and starts kicking Savage for loosing. Miss Elizabeth makes the save and reunites with Macho. Crowd looses it. One of the top three Mania matches so far. I give it 4 1/2 stars.

Match 8: Demolition Vs Tenru and Kitao. I don't think they explained why Tenru and Kitao got on the card, I think this was a one time deal for them. This was Demolitions last PPV. Nothing tag match. Tenru and Kitao win to the delight of five people in the crowd at 2:53. Boring tag match. 1 1/2 star.

Match 9: Intercontinental Title Match: Mr Perfect Vs The Big Bossman. Pretty lackluster. Andre comes down to ringside after Bobby Heenan interferes. Andre grabs the IC title and smacks Henning with it. Bossman wins by DQ when Haku and Barbarian interfere. Bossman and Andre clear everyone out. Nothing special 1 1/2 stars.

Match 10: Earthquake Vs Greg The Hammer Valentine. Hammer and Jimmy Hart had a falling out just before the Royal Rumble when Hart cost Valentine a match. Hammer controls and goes for the figure four. Hart distracts him and Earthquake catches him from behind, then finishes the match with the quake at 3:16. Short 1 star.

Match 11: Leigon Of Doom Vs Power And Glory. LOD are mad because PAG cost them a battle royale to decide the #1 contenders for the tag titles. PAG jump LOD but LOD turn it around fast and hit the doomsday on Paul Roma and get the pin in 1:01. Our first dud. You know Power And Glory had been kicking the Rockers all over the place for the past couple of months. PAG looked great in those matches but the LOD made them look like total losers, along with the Rockers too.

Match 12: Ted Dibiasie Vs Virgil. Kinda crappy. Piper who is injured at ringside pulls down the top rope and Dibiasie falls outside, Dibiasie nails him for interfering but gets counted out in the process at 4:31. Dibiasie jumps Virgil and puts on the million dollar dream. Piper gets into the ring and smacks Ted with a crutch. Sensational Sherri comes down and helps Dibiasie beat up Piper and Virgil. Virgil chases them out and helps piper up. Short and dissapointing. 1 1/2 star.

Match 13: Tito Santana Vs The Mountie. What a turd match. Mountie sticks Tito with a cattleprod and gets a pin in 1:19. Another dud? Two on the same card?

Match 14: World Title Match: Sgt Slaughter Vs Hulk Hogan. Pretty much a standard championship match. Both guys take turns controlling the match. Slaughter smacks Hogan with a chair outside the ring. Hogan blades towards the end. Slaughter tries pinning Hogan while covering him with the Iraqi flag. Hogan goes nuts tears up the flag and beats Slaughter in traditional fashion at 18:48. Hogan wins his third world title. I say 2 1/2 stars.

Overall review. Only 4 good matches, everthing else was pretty lame. The blindfold, tag match, retirment match, and world title match were the only good things. Everthing else was average stuff you would expect on Raw or Smackdown. This is the first mania to score two dud matches.

I give the event a 6.9 star rating. Savage/Warrior is still one of the best Mania matches ever.

Best Match: Warrior Vs Macho (macho now has participated in three best mania matches).
Worst Match: Tito Vs Mountie followed by LOD Vs Power And Glory.

Current Mania standings

Mania 3: 7.1
Mania 6: 7.0
Mania 5: 7.0
Mania 7: 6.9
Mania 4: 6.8
Mania 2: 4.8
Mania 1: 4.1

Tomorrow we go to the Hoosier dome for Wrestlemania 8.

All I have to say is Savage vs. Warrior. I like it better than Hogan/Warrior the previous year! But they're both on the same level. LOL I just love the blindfold match too, silly stuff, Martel is hilarious! LOL he whips Jake into the ropes & expects to nail him, but Jake runs the other way, hahahaha.

I didn't realize Savage had some of the best matches up through this point. That may change later..... ! I'm reading 'em fast!

This was the first Classic Wrestling tape I ever rented.

I loved it, frankly I think Hogan Vs Slaughter optimized Hulkamania more then any other match, and people forget back then people forget excessive Blood was still pretty rare.

What version of this event did you watch it on?

I have this on VHS from the WrestleMania 1985 - 1997 Collection and everything seems to be intact with no editing whatsoever. Looking at your review it seems like you've reviewed the original VHS tape, because....

Match 3: The British Bulldog Vs The Warlord. Warlord gets the full nelson and Davyboy breaks it and gets the running powerslam for the win in 2:24. feh 1 star. Davyboy could put on a better match than this.

Davey Boy did put on a better match. The actual match lasted around 8 minutes. The version you watched must have been clipped more than ever.

If you want your fix of Classic WM's I would seriously consider buying the 1997 WrestleMania Collection.
