Final Word on J.Lo: The Almighty Dollar

There was much fanfare surrounding the fact that Maid in Manahattan was number #1 during its debut weekend. The film made $18 million or so and J.Lo's salary was somewhere between $10-12 million. The film's budget was $55 million. The film has maybe just about broken even and will probably just yield a small profit since for most films the first few weeks are critical in terms of generating the overall box office receipts. J.Lo is not producing a substantial profit for the movie studio on this one. It's all about money. If she continues with this kind of drivel she will be making fewer movies at lower salaries. Just my two cents on looking at this fake J.Lo phenom thing from an econ perspective.
