John Hughes/Edmond Dantes

The credits for this movie say "Story by Edmond Dantes", Dantes being a pseudonym John Hughes sometimes uses. (It's the name of the hero in "Count of Monte Cristo"). I know Hughes had written the original screenplay for this film and had considered directing. Why did he use the pseudonym? Was it because he was dissatisfied with changes that were made in the final product? (For instance, it was originally set in Chicago, where Hughes sets all his movies.) Or was it the producers' idea, since it might take credibility away if it were associated with the purveyor of 80s teen movies and 90s kiddie flicks?

Anyone in their right mind would have their name changed or scenes deleated from this pile of cr@p if they could.
What amazes me is that hughes had anything to do with this in the first place.

I think Hughes might had been a little embarrassed with the movie, hence the alias.

It's that man again!!
