Alternate Ending * Spoilers **

Wondering if anyone can answer this question. I saw this movie about 8 years ago on IFC back when they didn't run commercials during the movies. It was on again last night on IFC and I caught the ending during breaks in the Sharks/Kings playoff game. Something really bothers me about the ending because it's so different from what I remember. Here is the ending I recall:

The girl climbs out of the underground and staggers toward the road in the daylight. The clown character comes driving by in a convertible and stops to help her. He is very distraught to see her in such bad shape and offers her a ride. She tells him she needs to go to a doctor or the hospital and he quickly drives away with her in the front seat. Then one of the Firefly's rises from the back seat. The clown guy sees him and starts punching him. I can't remeber if there is any audio here. Then there is creepy music and newspaper clippings stating the police arrested the entire Firefly family and they have all been jailed and charged with hundreds of murders.

The ending last night was completely different with the girl being operated on by Dr. Satan at the very end and her "escape" appearing to be a dream she was having before waking up. In this ending, the guy in the back seat raises up and is in the process of stabbing the girl in the front seat just before she awakens in Dr. Satan's lair.

Anyone else see the first ending I recall from years ago?

I think you're confusing the ending with the beginning of Devil's Rejects.

I saw this when it came out, and I've rewatched a load of times. The only ending I've ever seen or heard of is the one with Dr Saten ending.

Like the other poster said. You could be getting it mixed up with the opening of The Devils Rejects? Though I don't think you are as 1.you mention that the clippings of newpaper said they had been captured and charged. And 2.you recall spaulding punching otis in the backseat when he realises he's there.

Zombie could've had that ending deleted, as he may of wanted to keep it open to return for a sequel (which he did obviously) and like I said, I saw it when it came out and never heard anything like that ending. If it does exist I would like to see it lol.

From that newspaper there must've been mugshots of the family. They could then escape in the sequel and be on the loose. Maybe there could be a true sequel that could take place a decade and a half later like in 1992.

I will say that I have heard of an alternate (original) ending. Apparently the film ended much more abruptly, and I'm not sure that Dr. Satan was ever shown in that original cut. Reshoots happened and this was the ending that we ended with. I don't really know details (and could be wrong about this), but that is what I've heard.
