Who would you cast as Alice?
I was pondering this and realized I couldn't think of anyone who could take on this dark role of the herorine.

I had the idea if linda hamlton or sigourney weaver were a few years younger, they'd be good, but all in all, im truley cluless as to what acress would be able to pull off a dark role such as this without coming off as a bitch. Its a tough call.
"Marv, this is God. What the HELL were you thinkin?!"
Keira Knightley. I've heard people mention Christina Ricci, but I really don't care for her. I would have liked to see Keira do it, but Sarah Michelle Gellar will be playing Alice in the new movie directed by Marcus Nispel. Isn't she a bit old to play a 17 year old? Perhaps they'll change Alice's age...
"What is the point of all those push-ups if you can't even lift a bloody log?"
I can't believe no one's thought of
EMILY BROWNING....
She's the perfect age for the game's Alice, plus has that edgey look to her. Let's not forget Sarah Michelle Gellar would have to pull off a convincing English accent, which Browning, considering she's Australian, could more easily pull off.
omg Emily Browning would be PERFECT!
shareExactly the person I was thinking of.
I don't know if this movie is being made allready or not..so sorry if it is...but if not then nowadays if it is still getting made I would vote for Genevieve Gaunt to be a good looking Alice (though I don't know how good her acting skills are).

They're not making the movie cause of EA Games, saying that they own Alice, blah, blah, blah...and American McGee said that it wasn't going to be made..which sucks so much a$$!

omg yes i would love emily browning.
but..... ive been thinking for a long time that it should be evan-rachel wood i would love her as bieng alice but i think emily browning would play it very well though but my #1 is Evan

That blows! I would've enjoyed that.
Plus, I had it narrowed down to:
ALICE LIDDELL:
Emma Watson
Emily Browning
Bonnie Wright
Jessica Stroup
Mischa Barton
QUEEN OF HEARTS:
Imelda Staunton
I have the same birthday as Johanna E. Braddy (Princess Yue on Avatar.)
What about Thora Birch - Comes to mind of her American Beauty part & that confused teenager act that she does so well. Christina Ricci would have been good too.
shareI think Sarah Michelle Geller is a big mistake as Alice. HUGE. Alice is young in the game/animated movie/book, so I have no idea why they're casting women much too old. Emily Browning from Ghost Ship seems like the only likely canidate for the role to me.
share I don't recall them ever touching on what Alice's age was in the game. She had been contained in a mental institution for who knows how long...
I would guess at anywhere between the ages of 18 to 25 if I had to.
And if I am correct in my guess, then Ms. Gellar could handle it. She seems to have her own affinity for the role, and was a huge fan of the game supposedly.
I think Shannen Doherty would be a cool bitchy Alice too
Thora Birch? No *beep* way! If she plays Alice, then I will never see or read anything related to Alice again because he can't act to save her life! She holds no expression in her face whatsoever!
Christina Ricci...maybe. She's definately got the look. You know, round doll-like face, big eyes, Cupid's bow lips, silent-film-star looks and whatnot. Plus, she has great taste in movies!
In my opinion, Summer Glau would make the perfect Alice Liddell!

"Where have all the good vampire movies gone?"
i always thought while playing the game that she somewhat resembles natalie portman...personally, i'd like to see kiera knightley in the role. SMG is a huge mistake...
share They are going to go with an older Alice... perhaps that girl from lemony snicket... She might make a decent alice... But I could be wrong... perhaps she's too young... perhaps she's old enough by now...
Winona Ryder could play Alice... but everyone in Wonderland would be nailing everything down so she wouldn't make off with it... Terrible joke... sorry...
SMG will be a great Alice! i really think so!
shareI think as said previously, Thora Birch would be fit to play the part. She could pull off the accent very well (See: The Hole) and she has that very dark look about her. I think that I would probably be having dreams rather than nightmares if she could paly the part ;) But oh well, I guess we'll just have to stick with SMG.

*cry* ... i can´t stand Sarah ... i´m sorry ... but if it was my choice on which it would depend ... Thora Birch ... she´s amazing ... then i thought of Brittany Murphy (don´t throw the stones at me plz, it´s just an idea .. she´s so nice playing wretched creatures) ... too bad Dakota is so young ... she´s catchy ... umhhm ... and my adorable Mad Hatter could be definitely Johnny Depp ... if they mean to make Alice old, why not to make Hatter pretty?
And ow ... Alice would be also played by Alison Goldfrapp (scary and witty).
I can´t help but i can hardly bear the vision of Alice played by some boring hollywood beauty queen. Bye.
I can't stand her either.

I agree. Emily Browning.
Wow, jeez. A lot of you guys' ideas are perfect. I'm kind of upset that they picked SMG. I mean, she just doesn't look the part. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think she does her best work in horror. A while back, I was looking at an "Alice" site, and they had said Natalie Portman was being asked to play the role. Now, I think Natalie would have been wonderful, but after seeing all your ideas, I've had second thoughts. Especially Jena Malone and Emily Browning.
Smoke it, you may choke at first, but then the worst is over.
Jena Malone
Emily Browning
Thora Birch
Christina Ricci would be perfect.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
No, but seriously, I'd probably go for Keira Knightley or...an unknown.
Just so long as the character, along with the movie itelf, are both VERY dark, I'll go see em.
What movie is this now? I heard they were thinking of making a movie based off the game a while ago, but have heard nothing of it recently. When I read about the movie the candidates for Alice were Natalie Portman, Eliza Dushku and a few other people. And what system is the game on? I haven't played.
I think to play maybe a teen Alice (from the books and such, since I haven't played the game)
Elisha Cuthburt
Alexis Bledel
Natalie Portman
Possibly Michelle Trachtenberg
Eww no way to Michelle Trachtenberg.
shareAs others have mentioned, Emily Browning was born to play this role.
shareYes, Emily Browning is perfect for the role. She looked really great in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and she was also good in Ghost Ship. Admit it... Emily Browning was born to play the role of a psychopathic teen-age killer.
shareI agree with Emily Browning.
shareEmily Perkins would be perect for Alice. And Tim Curry's voice for the Cheshire cat.
shareI always thought Christina Ricci would be perfect for the part because she played Wednesday Addams or Eliza Dushku because she has that "dark" feel to her. Now everyone keeps talking about Emily Browning and although i didn't really like Lemony Snicket's i actually thought about it and realised that she would very well suited to the part. I'd also like to see Dakota Fanning as an insane Alice although she's too young. Since so many people are disappointed with SMG being in the movie would you rather it be put off even longer if they changed the actress? I myself would rather wait and get a better actress. I really don't think SMG works with this movie. And maybe if it gets put off for a while again they can get Tim Burton to direct! Wishful thinking I know but oh well.
shareI'd say the original voice would do better. :P
shareAaliyah would make a great Alice.
Oh sorry, I was just trying to find somebody as dead as this film project.

HAHAHAHAHA
But seriosly, announced, SMG is Alice.
Sorry guys but i think she would be great.
I think she can handle the dark thing in her.
I seriously go for gellar.
Love this game.
Alice.
I hope McGee is going to make another game.
Maybe Snowwhite hunting for elves.
Lol.
i would have to say that Alexis Bledel would be perfect for the role of Alice. i know she usually plays shy, sweet, girlish parts(Gilmore Girls, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants) but she did a very good job in Sin City, and she most certainly could have the right look, and looks as if she could be the right age(17-19).
She is very pretty, has the right physique, and has rather large, beautiful eyes. i could easily see her as Alice.
With SMG, I can barely watch for a full episode of her. Luckily, she is playing a role who isn't the main, thus a big role she is playing. One of the worse case senarios would probably be that this movie, with or without SMG, would turn out dreadful. Like the horror movies that have been released nowadays. Speaking of recently reased movies, I'm a fan of Sin City and Kill Bill for the indepth values and messages.
shareSARAH MICHELLE GELLAR FOR ALICE. YEAH!!
shareI really don't think SMG's right for the part. Even if she had any of the unhinged Gothic girl-child look that is required, I believe that she's been too long established as Buffy for audiences to be able to see her as anyone else.
I'm holding out on the chance that she's the Queen of Hearts.
In my opinion, Emily Browning or Alexis Bledel would do well, or maybe Emily Perkins (Brigitte from Ginger Snaps). My boyfriend reckons that Eliza Dushku (Faith from BtVS) would have been a better choice than SMG.
I know I'm going to see it, whoever plays Alice, but I shall be somewhat placated if they make the smart choice and cast Alan Rickman as the Cheshire Cat!
