What's the story on the video release?

What's the story on the video release of Darkest Knight and its two sequels? The IMDB has this entered as a TV series, but the DVD's I have seen of Darkest Knight, Darkest Knight II, and Darkest Knight III all present themselves as full-length motion pictures. Are these video releases just the episodes spliced together? Does anyone have the story?

nepenthean, I have the first one that I bought in the Wal-Mart bargain bin a few months ago. I didn't know there were others. Do they complete a big story?

scotthall82, I have to correct myself. I got it on a cashier's end-cap at Target, and I believe it was right around $5, maybe $5.50 as a compete-with-Walmart price (right across the street from each other).

If you go to Target be very careful to watch the shelf price tags as they're all mixed up, cheap to expensive, and this one should be well under $10 regardless of where you live inside the contiguous 48 ... assuming you are US-American, of course. I believe transportation costs could make the price in Alaska and/or Hawaii a good bit higher.

I think you're right about the three parts, so I have the first one (I think). I'll double-check later when I have more time (provided my phone isn't doing talk radio again).

Yes, I enjoyed it, but I'm pretty good at not comparing movies like this to the big-budget flicks. Neither do I need movies to be brainy. I've been watching movies for just over 40 years, so you can imagine I've seen all styles available, including silent.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the movie and I'll watch it again just for the fun of it.

It's hard to connect when the phone line picks up talk-radio and/or goes "dead" due to rain.

I paid $5 for mine. Unfortunately, it only had spanish for subtitles so I was unable to watch it.

I found it on a Target endcap as well. Paid $5.50. As the typical story seems to go, I was duped into buying it because of the dragons flying around Neuschwanstein Castle (not sure how bad I butchered the spelling). I had to see why they had dragons attacking a castle that was built in the 19th century!

Long before I found Darkest Knight at Target, I had seen DK2 & DK3 in bargain bins at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.

Like some of the others I started watching it and said, 'Hey! this isn't a movie, it's a TV series!' So I got on here to see if I could find out what the deal was!

Ok, so what I have heard about this is:
1. It was a New Zealand TV show.
2. Some episodes where put together for the DVD release.
3. There are 3 DVDs.

I would just like to add that me and two of my friends are very amused by these DVDs and spent several weeks searching for them all.

Anyone have an idea how many episodes there were for the show?

I was very amused myself and would hope that other episodes will make it to DVD.

damn I wasted my money.... I rented this DVD as part of a 6 for $15 pacakge from rogers. This = to $2.85 after tax to rent this... and I got shafted with some crappy fullscreen television show. The box art and description made me rent this after just watching reign of fire. I thought it was going to be of similarity.

I then stick this in to find a fullscreen movie and a ghost appears. Im like "WTF is this a tv show or something? why does the video not look film quality" I then fast forwarded through the whole movie in hopes of finding the dragons i saw on the box art. I was sadly disapointed to see nothing more then low budget haloween costumes used as creatures.

To be honest... I wathed only 45 seconds of this movie up to the ghost at the start and then stoped... I would rather waste my money then watch it... cause it looks terrible.

I don't know.
I find it so poor that it IS funny.

I'm sorry but LOL!!!

The original TV show was produced in New Zealand. There were two seasons. Each season had 13 episodes. So, a total of 26 episodes.

It definitely seemed like the writers were planning on having a third season (based on how Season 2 ended), but the show must have been canceled before that happened.

You are wrong, again. Loser. There are 4 DVD's.

You must be like Odo without the eggs.

What's the name of the fourth and where did you see it ?

reply

The fourth movie in the series is called Fantasy Quest. Not sure why it wasn't called Darkest Knight 4. The cover art is quite accurate!
