Inspired

I know most of Kamal's movies are "inspired" atleast in part by other great works, normally out of reach to the large movie audience of India. It is also known that Kamal hardly stays out of the director's way and influences other departments of the movie heavily. Does anybody know if Pushpak is inspired by any other previous work?
