Truly pack of lies and propaganda.

I do understand this is a just a movie and not based on true events but doesn't change the fact how badly this movie portrays the medical system especially the medical doctors. Now i don't honestly care about the medical system because its broken and it is based on greed. But making doctors pawns and portraying as greedy and someone who is getting "kickbacks" from HMO is truly based on a complete lie. the truth is that the medical system and the laws all go against a doctor. Please note the following.

1. Doctors don't get kickbacks from HMO. the hospitals do.

2. The HMO has made the private practices survival very difficult. The whole system is designed (or atleast in the past 14 years) designed to force the doctors to sell their practices and become part of the hospital staff. This is a planned economic slavery.

3. Average pay for a doctor after taxes per month is 7200 dollar which a store clerk can make with doctors number of hours.

4. County cares pay 9 dollars for a doctors visit. Deny that 9 dollar in almost 45 percent of the time. They decide whether it is going to be a 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minute or 30 minute visit. A non doctor a clerk sits and decide how much time they are gonna pay the doctor for with out even knowing the patient themselves and not even knowing how complex the medical issue is.

4. Medicare pays 17 cents to the dollar. They even cut that 17 cent by 21 percent recently for specialist doctors.

5. Doctors are by law not allowed to have unions or voice since 2003. They cannot ask for any demands and not allowed to quit work or go on strike. While on the other hand nursing staff is allowed all those privileges (for some strange reasons) . Its all about lobbying and paying money to law makers.

6. When a doctor bills for his services Medicare usually takes 8 months to pay and pays only 17 cents to the dollar. Denial rate is almost 70 percent. Which after appeals and contesting drops to 45 percent but still very high.

7. Its the doctors who are getting shafted all over US and not the medical system and no the insurance companies.

8. Doctors don't get reimbursed for following services which would amount to hundreds of hours in a year. Making call backs to the patient, filling out disability paper work, Contesting insurance denial, Calling in medications the pharmacy, Preauthorizations for tests ordered, Preauthorization for any referrals needed, Spending almost 40 minutes for one pre authorization and sitting on the phone etc.

9. Sunshine act makes the medicare reimbursements published on a website for everybody to see which is highly inaccurate as it ignores all the overhead costs which a doctor bears out of his pocket to pay those bills. Sometimes as high as 70 percent of his income. A doctor has to justify a 20 dollar lunch on that website but somehow the law makers and senators receive millions of dollars from private sectors and they don't have to reveal anything.

10. Demonizing doctors and not even knowing whats the issue (you were never in their shoes) is not right. They spend tremendous amount of their time and life studying, paying bills and then dedicating lives to achieving something. Very tiny number of doctors fall under the pretense of greed. Don't demonize the rest of them who have earned it and now being donkeys enslaved by government for the billions of dollars the insurance companies and private sector is making. Talk is cheap. If you can't respect them stay quiet.

This movie does not make doctors pawns. The medical system as it has been existing TREATS them as pawns. Young doctors are used every day by hospital administrators to do do their dirty work . That is what this movie is trying to help you see! ?
