I hated It

I expect better from a film with Paul Rudd in it....

But seriously, Gen X cops wasn't a good movie but I could still call it a 'bad movie.' This was just horrible, it seemed really cheap and very, poorly made. You can watch Gen X and Gen Y cops and they just seem like too completely different movies.

Gen Y cops is just ridiculous. Just getting my opinion out there.

What an amazing detailed opinion I must say! You sir are a genius when it comes to intelligent criticizing on the interweb! Oh wait, I almost forgot the /sarcasm at the end.

.../sarcasm

I've watched both movies and I can even though I agree that they didn't have the greatest effects and such the movies themselves had their own feel about them. Not entirely masterpieces, but I wouldn't say they suck. Compared to Uwe Boll movies they are gods. Aside from that comparison the movies aren't THAT bad. There are a lot of movies out there who used a couple thousand bucks and still was able to make it good.

This sequel and the original movie, though had average acting (not many comedies have amazing acting) and cheap graphics aren't that bad at all. Maybe if you took the time to look past all of that you might be able to enjoy a movie that is not meant to be taken seriously at all. From what I can see they are like Jackie Chan movies (which I do believe he promoted these movies himself) and we all know when he started out none of his movies were up to date on much of anything either. His movies were pretty much working with what they got and what they ended up with something enjoyable and these movies are definitely that. Just go rent these movies again, relax, grab some popcorn and just chill as you watch it.

Geez so many people need to stop over-analyzing everything.

Btw Alien is a badass.

I thought this movie totally licked balls. I liked Gen X Cops despite its poor acting and predictable storyline but Gen Y Cops was just awful. Thumbs DOWNNNN!

Although Gen-X cops wasn't any masterpiece, the chemistry between Tse,Lee,Fung and Yip made the movie a wonderful experience. After watching the extras from X-Cops i got excited to hear how much everyone enjoyed making the movie and how the new generation of Hong Kong actors got the chance to take the ball and run with it. I thought for sure this would be the beginning of a great trilogy of action movies with Even Jackie Chan verbally passing the torch to Nicholas Tse stating "today, Jackie Chan, tomorrow, Nicholas Tse!!!"

So what do they do? they drop Tse and Yip!!!

and add Edison Chen and Paul Rudd.....

this is just my personal opinion but Chen is just not a good actor to me. i liked him in Dog bite Dog but he didn't really have any speaking roles. Rudd is one of my fav comedy actors and i don't knock him taking a role like this, i wouldnt knock anyone for it. it was just odd watching him in this type of movie.

The acting in Gen X wasn't GREAT but this was even worse! im not sure if it's the wish wash between the languages or what, but everything just seemed to be read from Cue cards and the English seemed drawn out for some reason. I know Benny Chan was trying to cross over to the American audience Gen-x which i believe actually worked, but he may have pushed a little too far with this one almost forgetting what made the first one so good. One reason I watch Asian cinema is to get away from most of the repetitive crap that comes out of Hollywood. this brought me right back home.

As with Fudoh:new generation, Gen-X Cops could have become a great series of movies but for some reason things took a plundge. (of course Takashi Miike wasn't in charge of the sequels to Fudoh so there you go with that franchise.)

if anyone knows why they made so many changes please let me know. im curious to see why Tse was praised so much after the first one and doesnt even make it into this...not even a hats off or name drop.
