Bob Cerv

M&M's roommate was a pretty fair ball player in his own right. He had a pair of stints with the Yanks (1951-56 and 1960-62), was traded to the Kansas City Athletics where he finally got to play full time(1957-60) and even made the all-star team (1958). He finished up his career with a pair of expansion teams -- Los Angeles Angels (1961) and Houston Colt .45's (1962).

He got screwed in NY as he had to sit the bench behind outfielders like Mantle, Maris, Howard, Lopez, Sieburn, Woodling, Bauer, etc. But he got to play regulary in the 1955 and 1960 World Series because of injuries and also delivered a pinch home run in the '55 classic.

Cerv wasn't fast, but he was a feared baserunner who could take out the fielder at second to break up double plays.
