There is some choice language in the movie, but not a lot. My guess is that it would be rated PG-13. There are scenes of Mantle very drunk and being a woman-chaser. No nudity of any kind that I recall. The line I recall is Mantle saying to the guys "I like women with small hands, they make my **** look bigger." And Mantle telling Maris "Hey, Rog, that blonde in third row has the biggest ***s I've seen in a long time." Mantle, though, is portrayed as a good teammate and friend. It's a good baseball movie and there are probably good lessons about friendship and the power the media has. If you or the parents don't want the kid hearing this kind of talk, or you want to be safe, it probably wouldn't be a good present. Frankly, my son was a baseball nut at 11 and I would have let him watch the movie and gritted my teeth through the little bit of language and vulgor lines. Hope this helps.

I dont know, in reference to your question. I personally think that it is an amazing film, and that if the 11 year old in question knows the story, he should certainly get to watch the movie. Yes they do say F word from time to time, but if the 11 year old has heared them before, they are not meant to shock. The movie itself is rated R (I own the dvd). The only thing that might not be appropriate is the struggle that Mantle has with drinking. The problem gets recognized and then fixed later in the film. There is also a scene where Maris chain-smokes because he is having problems with his wife. Maris's problems with smoking is also hinted at, but barely, and the 11 year old might not catch it.

Personally I say go for it, it is an excellent movie

I think it's stupid to rate a movie R just for language (unless the F word dominates the dialogue like in Tarantino's films), so I'd let it get away with PG-13, especially since a handful of movies have gotten away with PG-13 despite nudity (Titanic).

How do you like that piece of satire
