Instead of ending with that McGwire BS, it should've ended with an older Roger Maris having his number retired at Yankee Stadium.

The movie was about the record, not Maris. And you have to put the McGwire scenes in context: in 2001, McGwire was quite a beloved figure. He was a mainstream superstar then. Only later did the steroid-stuff taint him.

This movie is based on a true story. You can't just change the ending around. This is not fiction here
