Mother And Daughter

Khrystyne Haje and Courtnee Draper played Kathy & Megan Larsen, mother & daughter in Stepsister From Planet Weird. Haje was 31 when the film premiered on Disney Channel. As I write this, it's Draper's birthday and guess how old she is: that's right, Courtnee Draper is now 31. The daughter in Stepsister From Planet Weird is now old enough to be the mother. This technically makes Khrystyne Haje old enough to be a grandma, though most people don't become a grandparent at the age of 47 (nor do they want to)

One of the best remembered scenes from the movie is when Courtnee Draper's character is caught fibbing to the popular girls about being Jewel's Cousin. I wonder who the mother, Kathy, would have claimed to be a relative of if she tried to become popular at age 14. Maybe she would have claimed to be a cousin of Cher or Olivia Newton-John.

I've jokingly wondered if somebody at the Disney Channel suggested Stepsister From Planet Weird's main role go to "that girl from The Jersey" and Draper was cast and they were like "Courtnee Draper? I meant Brianne Prather!" I've been looking at a youtube clip from The Jersey and notice that Brianne Plather resembles Khrystyne Haje a lot more than Draper.

Khrystyne Haje was fine in Stepsister From Planet Weird but with Lance Guest as the title character's father, it would have been cool if Disney could have gotten Catherine Mary Stewart to play Kathy for a nice "Last Starfighter" reunion with Lance Guest. It wouldn't have been entirely random as the two movies both involve a teenager's life disrupted by aliens.
