Goof's...

Hi.. Just watched an episode, the pilot I think... Anywhoo, one goof they did, possibly deliberate, was the holo-screen showing (from behind, hence reversed) some output from the ship's "computer". I took an 'ol CD (Hey.. Didn't have any mirror, so I McGyver:ed up one) and what I saw made me chuckle actually.
It was some output from a NetWare- client. The thing that made me laugh was that it stated a few diffrent dates like "05/2000", which would be May month, and probably that was true.

This is the kind of thing the makers do that really annoys me.
They treat us "mere mortals" as if we're born with an IQ of 27 (Like a bird I think) and gullible as hell.

Granted, this series had a low budget, but I think they could atleast try not to show these kinds of obvious stuff...

An typical example is the movie Pay check, where they dumbify us by having some motherboard where he (Ben Afflec) pulls a bunch of PCI- cards and using a (I think, if I rembered right) he used a paper clip to short some circuits (With huge sparks I might add!).

Any normal computer wouldn't ever (!!!) have the power transistors outside in a controller box / locker, and also the second when he pulled the cards, everything would have frosen up instantly, since a computer works that way: If any circuits are beeing interrupted, everythin halts as a precaution and simply due to the interruption of the system clock that controlls everything.

Well, yes, someone would probably say "It's in the future, bla bla bla".
If so, they shouldn't AT ALL use some of the motherboards we have today.
The prop's master should have seen to that, but they didn't.
Shame on them.

This is only one amongs a crap-load of movies that does this kind of mistakes...

<Insert aprop. godlyhood here>(Well, I'm not religious so it's up to you!), I wish I worked as an consultant for these kinds of movies...

About 80% of computer users don't even know what USB stands for, let alone what PCI is...
Film makers go with whatever they can get within the time they have and the budget available to them.
