the jump cuts


whenever someone on this board complains about the editing, somebody else invariably comes along and says something along the lines of "you just don't understand the jump cuts. they were trying to do something different with this movie."
what i would like to know is WHAT exactly they were trying to accomplish with the jump cuts. they're awkward, and seem sloppy.
