She wound up becoming one. Her first time was traumatic, but the second time she detached herself and play-acted her way through it. No happy endings in this movie.

I guess for some their home life is so bad that they would rather live at a place like the Golden Eagle.

In a major city like LA, probably anywhere between 25 and 35 dollars a night. Those are what is commmonly known as SROs. Single Room Occupancy, and most people are renting monthly or weekly. Sometimes they call them welfare hotels. It is pretty much for end of the line people. You really don't want to find yourself in one of those. It is nothing glamorous. That is the type of place in which a lot of winos, junkies, and hookers stay. A lot of places like that sometimes they will rent out hourly for the hookers.

I am sure there is a major break if you rent it monthly. I have stayed in places like that back in my crack smoking days. It is never boring that is for sure, but skid row LA, is a pretty crazy place compared to most cities. I personally would not want to be there. Not for more than a night or two anyway.

I lived in a place sort of that in Phoenix, it wasn't as crazy, but they did find ODs every once in a while. Some of them according to the word on the street were actually murders that were disguised as ODs.

You are joking, right?

Cable is doubtful as a lot of those types of places don't even have a tv. You may be able to buy a hot plate down the street at the Salvation Army thrift store, tell them Tequila sent you, and you may get a potholder thrown in. As far as a fridge, doubtful. Also many of these places have rules against cooking in the rooms because they are usually just infernos waiting to happen and since most of the residents are usually in a state of inebriation they tend to frown upon cooking in the rooms.

Good luck dude.

It varies, a lot of the people that are living in places like this are probably also taking advantage of soup kitchens and pantries where they give out food boxes. There are also cheap restaurants. Also a lot of the people are so far gone with booze and drugs, that eating is not really a priority.

Where are you from man?

Have you ever read any Jack Kerouac. Check out the book "On the Road", dude, I think that you will really like it. If you want to go out on the road, this is a must read.
