what was with those two?

when the boa kills the guy in the ice hole, two guys are sent down there. The one says to the other "We gotta look for Jenkins" (which is the guy who was killed) then the other replies "Jenkins, is a bitch?" then the other says "What?" then the other say "Huh?" then blood falls on the one guys hand from the ceiling. He looks at it and says "Blood?" then the snake slowly comes down and slowly kills the guy as the other one is sitting there watching. He doesn't move or anything! Then the snake finishes and then kills that guy. Really weird script writing.
