over-acting

i know alot of people weren't very happy with Judy Davis' portrayal of judy but personally I loved it. Although there was a part where I felt she was over-acting. The part where they are doing the "Man That Got Away" scene and I felt that was over acted and that she didnt feel the song at all

any opinions on her overacting?

I think she made Judy Garland a bit self-obsessed.

I loved how Judy Davis potrayed Judy Garland! It was spot on through the whole film! Even Tammy Blanchards part was spot on. The only flaw about this movie is that Judy Davis is too old during the Trolley Song.

I agree...that was the scene (as well as the Trolley song) in whcih I felt JD was just imitating JG. Other than that (especially in the Rock-a-Bye Your Baby bit) she did marvelously.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.

JD did well as JG. I think that she deserved a lot of praise in her portrayal as JG.

In order to properly portray Judy Garland, wouldn't one need to be as dramatic & self-obsessed as humanly possible?

I mean, wouldn't it have been in the job description?

AGREE 100%!!!!

Dammit Carol Sue, where is the vodka?!

I think the part that they made it too over the top and campy was when Judy was having a fit by the pool when she threw all those things into the pool and then herself, just the way she did that, it really looked like they were trying too much to be comical.
