This was AWFUL

I remember watching when Judy Davis won the Golden Globe and thinking this looks interesting.....I ADORE Judy Garland.....anyways...this was terrible....Judy Davis is nothing like Judy Garland...her speaking voice is different and she lacks the humour Judy had....ugh....I'm so disappointed with this movie...

Thank you! Someone agrees with me! I felt I was the only Judy Garland fan that hated this. I felt Davis was way too old. I felt she was too rehearsed and her emotions were quite fake. Especially her sense of humor.

I don't know what happened behind closed doors or anything that happened between Judy and Lorna. But, I think Lorna resents having Judy as a mother, as almost every celebrity child does. Even if Judy got off of her medications, I think she would have resented Judy for her name and how big of a legend she was. She has used Judy's name all of her career with books, films, and music to get her fame. She didn't build a career of her own like Liza did. I'm not a big fan of Lornas at all, after seeing this film.

And, this film was so cheaply made. With the narration, the sets, the costumes. It just seemed like someone was making a quick buck. Also, for a biography, there are quite a few mistakes of Judy's life from what I remember.

I personally hope a really good biopic comes out of Judy soon that shows her sense of humor, her troubles with marriage, the studio, and her drugs. And, her strength.

IMDB: "Where every movie is considered to be the most overrated movie of the decade."

Yeah, that's it, trash Lorna Luft because you're such a great human being youself. You're not a big fan of Lorna? Well, no one is a big fan of you, jackass.

well said brotherr.

this is america and we have freedom of speech and all that good stuff but some people have the mental capacity of a peanut and like peanuts should not be able to speak.

Theres no reason to trash Lorna. We were not children of Judy Garland though most of us wish we were, so you have no right to say what went on because frankly whatever happened between Liza, Lorna, Joey, Judy , Vincente, Sid, David, Mickey and Judy's other husband is not something we're gonna know about because that is THEIR family and probably don't want the public to tear them apart even more after 38 yearsss.

Yeh. I thought Allison Pill doing Lorna was the best actress in this movie, and the most accurate. Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis (especially Davis) did not portray the real Judy accurately enough. Or look enough like her(especially Davis). I know. I own almost all of Judy Garland's films and have seen each one umpteen times. I'm a true blue Garland fan.

I was disappointed because it FELT like a television movie - Judy and Tammy may have transcended the material, but it was all too obvious that this was a television movie

What's wrong with a television movie?

Nothing's wrong with a TV movie if it's good, just like a cinema release can be either great or terrible. "Judy, me and my shadows" wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. They should've left Judy Davis out of the film as Judy Garland completely in every scene before 1950 when she was fired from MGM. And the real Judy Garland's love, charisma, and humor was not portrayed real or convincing enough. And they left lots of good stuff out from Judy's life in this film.
