Sorry mate, were you involved in the making of this? Are you a friend of somebody involved in this movie! Nothing else would explain why you could have loved this movie if not affection for somebody involeved in it or wasted interest in this pathetic project. This is the worse movie I have ever seen! Bad is not a strong enough word to describe it.

I back him up...the top guy not Johnny-hates-it-all. I caught this film by accident and found it brilliant but couldn't quite put my finger on it but now own it on DVD and can watch when the mood strikes.

If you didn't like it thats fair enough; I, for one, did.

reply

Just finished watching it, it's one of the most realistic films I've ever seem about people and life in general. An excellent young person's film.

reply

'Worse movie'? I guess you haven't seen many movies.

reply

Yeah, it's very sweet.I just watched it. I love these kind of movies, it chears you up when you're feeling down.

reply

Exactly. I like this kind of story. Real people, everyday problems. Funny moments and moments we can all relate to.

I know this film is not an example of cinema grandeur, but it is enjoyable and, despite the depressing scenarios, a happy, optimistic one.

reply

Its got some great snappy, catchy dialogue and interesting characters with their own flaws, which makes the movie more appealing to me.

"You're a handsome devil, what's your name?"

reply

It's great, it's got Kate Ashfield. Duh.

reply

I bought this film on the recommendations of you guys on this thread. I'm glad i did, it's a really witty, fun and well written film. Loved it!
So thanks for the recommendations.

reply

Saw it for the first time on Channel 4 last night and I bought it today. It's ace.

reply

seriously? Did you believe any of it? The acting was beyond wooden and the script was horribly cliched in a human traffic 'young british people are so damn witty' kind of way. I found it utterly unbelievable and as a damn witty young british person, quite insulting!

reply

I agree with what you are saying in a way bichelaroux, it was cliched and the storyline sometimes unbelievable. However that doesn't mean it can't be entertaining. I didn't take it too seriously and enjoyed it.

reply

One of my fave movies ever. When low budget films get the dialogue and character interaction right they've got a hit, and this was a hit.

A Ganguro Girl adds a touch of class.

reply

"If you pay to see the Rolling Stones, you expect to hear the classics."

That made me laugh out loud for a while.

I really enjoyed the film, too.

reply

I agree the movie is great just watched it on the British connection (film 4) it was previewed during brick and i knew I'd be into it. all the characters are likable and the dialogue is entertaining,

it's very rare for me to do this but i am definitely going to look for this on DVD.

reply

ditto, loved every second of it, and was thouroghly surprised!
The acting is great, and the story is complete, no holes.

reply

I saw it being recommended in another board on this site, so i decided to give it a go, i absolutely LOVED it, it's great to see quality indie films such as this.

Brilliant stuff - Just watched it and really enjoyed it. I'm in my forties now, but it doesn't seem that long ago since I was that age wondering what exactly you were doing in life and why. The stories didn't quite ring true, but so what, this is a film about people - Like a film length version of Tuckers Luck for the noughties! One slight criticism was the lack of Scottish accents for a film set in Glasgow, but maybe you're not supposed to know it was Glasgow.

The only thing this had was a slightly similar style to Shaun of the Dead. Kate Ashfield must have brought it to Edgar Wright's attention and said, "Ed, lets do something a little like this but make it 5467586789065876 times better"

reply

Indeed it is. A great exercise in editing and pacing.
