2000??? OMG Terrible film!

I thought this film was made in the 80s! And since Preity Zinta is in it, assumed it was made in the mid 90s. Someone tell me this film is intentionally set in the 80s!

Its strange you say that because I got the same feeling through the whole movie! It seemed very retro instead of 2000. Like the direction, acting, plot, dialogues, everything hinted retro.

How can you assume it was made in the mid 90s because of Preity Zinta? She made her debut in 1998!
Weird.
And no, it's not 'set' in the 80s. It's just a very old-fashioned film. Make your peace with it.
