Character research

I wonder if Christopher Gorham spent some time with some actual missionaries or consulted with some who had been on missions for the LDS church while researching his character in this movie. I also wonder if Anne Hathaway did similar research applicable to her role. While I understand that neither one of them are currently members of the church, I think they would certainly benefit from seeking out the Gospel to see how it would benefit them and their families. I've read in other posts where Christpher is a genuine, kind-hearted man in real life. I'm certain he is already following many of the teachings of Christ in his life at this moment. Imagine if he were to become a member and enjoy the full blessings of the gospel. Imagine if he were to serve a "real" mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Imagine the peace and comfort he and so many others would enjoy knowing the plan of salvation and that we can be with our families forever.

Having served a full time mission myself, I can assure you that a mission is not easy, but it is very rewarding. Watching the movie brought back many wonderful memories I had of my own missionary experiences in the Northwestern United States. There are some other movies targeted at LDS audiences (The RM, God's Army) which also capture some part of what missionaries do, and bring more awareness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I hope these movies can bring together people in a sense of open-mindedness, leaving thoughts of personal box-office gains and popularity behind.

I hope before anyone draws conclusions about the LDS faith that they take the time to attend an LDS worship service on Sunday, contact the LDS missionaries, or visit the official church site at http://www.lds.org

Christopher Gorham is one actor I feel I have a number of things in common with. We are roughly the same age (only a year apart), He has a sweet wife and children and so do I. Two of the character roles he has portrayed through acting I have done in real life. After serving my LDS mission, I chose to pursue a career in information technology, so when I saw "Jake 2.0" on UPN, I thought it was intriguing, and fun to reminisce about the time I spent living in Northern Virginia where Jake 2.0 was set. I look forward to more works he has been a part of.

I agree with you I also served a mission for the church, and it was the best 2 years of my life
