As an atheist

I'm glad the focus of the film was not on Mormonism, but emphasizing what this man believed was his mission.

Having said that, and knowing that it is a Disney film, I find the film weak in criticizing Mormonism, and its racial doctrine within its text.

Now, having said that, I'm glad that the film took subtle jabs here and there at the church, and didn't throw in any supernatural moments.

An interesting film that, in my opinion, could have been better, and again, I'm sorry it was the Mormon church that claimed dibs on the South Sea Islanders.

Oh well.

Hopefully a better film about life in the South Seas will be forth coming.
