Double Whammy the movie is not based on the Carl Hiaasen book. I haven't seen it but since there is no mention of bass fishing it can't be the same.
shareIndeed. I rented this movie about a month ago because I searched for Carl Hiassen on this site. Then I read the book and there's no similarity. It's still a pretty decent movie though.
shareDoes anyone know if, in fact Carl Hiaasen actually wrote for this movie or is his name a typo? I've seen interviews with him and he seems pretty adamant about movies sticking to the general theme of his books. I'm not knocking the movie - it was actually not that bad, but it had nothing to do with the Bass Fishing circuit and the wonderful Skink.

Im reading the book right now, and now that I see the profile, I don't see any resemblence. I remember reading somewhere too that this was based on Hiaasen.
