Weird parts in the movie I would love if people explained.

Okay, I saw this already on the board, but my thing and the thing already posted go together. If this hasn't confused you enough already... okay!

The relationship between Handsome and Julie - what did he say when she rolled up the window right before the Die, Napplebee, Die thing. He was saying Julie is a rat! Julie is a rat! But then she rolled up her window and he mouthed something. It was probably something like "Just think about that for a moment." or something to psyche her out, but does anyone know what he really said. Also, the part right before he convinces Sammy to cheat on the midterm - I didn't get that whole part where Julie and Handsome had that conversation on the porch, like (and I'm sure I'm not exact):

Handsome: ::staring at her::
Julie: What are you staring at?
Handsome: A woman. She used to be a girl, but now... a woman.

And she got this confused look on her face, probably like the one I got watching it. I was like WTF? is that supposed to mean? Well, I'd love to here everyone's opinions!

Hahaha yeah i've often woundered about that too I guess it's just Handome being handsome. He's just weird like that.....and insanely clever and funny. Maybe he thinks Sammy and Julie had sex,so now she's a woman Or maybe he is seacretly madly in love with Julie, he finds her smartness to be a major turn on. Or maybe this is what happned but they had to cut it out:

What really happned:

Julie: "What are you stairing at?"
Handsome: "A woman. She used to be a girl, but now....she's a woman."
Julie: "What the hell are you talking about?"
Handsome: "Don't think I don't know what you guys do up there....Don't you
realize....It's really me that you love??"
Julie: "No. I love Sammy."

Handsome: *grabs Julie and kisses her passionatly*

(sammy walks out and sees them kissing)

Sammy: "Hansome no! What are you doing?"
Handsome: "Buying candy???"
Sammy: "Don't kiss her!....Kiss me!"
Handsome: "What?"
Julie: "What?"
Sammy: "Everyone I have a confession to make. Julie Im sorry, I never loved you, I was only pretending to like you to make Handsome jealous....because he's the one i really love."
Handsome: "REally?"
Sammy: "Really."
Handsome: "I never knew you felt this way sammy"
Julie: "How could you Sammy! I helped you study!!!"
Sammy: "I was using you for your smartness..and to make handsome jealous."
Handsome: "I love you too sammy!"

*Handsome and Sammy kiss passionatly right there on the porch*

.....so thats what really happned.

Ummmmmmmmm Bandit r u trying to tell us somethin?????? That's f'ed up man. I don't think they were thinking on those lines

"Sure, mom, I settle down with a nice girl every night, then I'm free the next morning. "

reply

hahahaha. I love you Bandit! hehehehe.

..and I think Handsome was only saying that to weird her out and change the subject... and it worked.

reply

Simple explanation. Handsome and Julie grew up together. In fact Handsome helped Sammy cheat and beat out Julie during the spelling bee scene

reply

I agree with both the "subject change" explination and the "they grew up together" explination.

reply

I'm pretty sure he says "Do you want to be that one?"

reply

was she supposed to be the one that's like "why do you have dots on your face?... dot face!" what do you mean sammy beat her in the spelling bee...?

Being chased. I like that.

did you find out what he said to julie?

reply

he was only saying that to be funny plus, he is already a weird person, like what alot of people already said. he is always doing things that make you wanna go "huh?". even his friends dont always understand his actions. also, he doesnt really get along with julie so he is probably always saying strange stuff to her for the hell of it and for no real reason.

reply

exactly.

reply

He was saying that to her to annoy her with his obviously insincere compliment. She can't get mad cause he's being complimentary, but it's obviously such a silly thing to say that she knows he doesn't mean it and is really just laughing at her. He knows she wants to feel grown up, but he knows she won't believe him if he gives her such a corny line. She just does that sort-of half sigh and looks down because she knows he's messing with her but she can't really say anything, and doesn't want to talk to him anyway.

well i think that in this scene was the only scene that handsome was really being honest in entire movie, that's why the scene is weird and is the most important scene in the movie, he wasn't cheating, he wanted her but she could have her, the cheating couldn't help his in this, that's the whole point of the scene to me

reply

We need to get some deaf person who reads lips to tell us what he said

reply

yes, please - we need a lip-reader in here :)
i can't for the life of me figure it out!

I'm able to understand "you may think about somethingsomething"
and that's it x)

It doesn't matter what he said after the window closed the only thing that mattered was that he was threatening to make her last moments of high school totally unenjoyable and that reason was because (I thought it was obvious...) she was obviously made fun of when she was younger with the slogan 'Julie is a rat' (maybe because she had a thin face or maybe she tattled a lot). That's what it seemed like to me (people would remember it from when they were younger and say it as a joke).
However, now that I'm writing it, he may have meant that he'd convince everyone to say it because Julie was going to rat on Victor (and Handsome). I don't know if he had that much power though. It was simply a scare tactic that Handsome used. He could have been threatening her 'moral' sense as to not 'rat' a fellow classmate out.
And in the scene where he says about her being a women, he was totally disingenuius. He was really nothing more than a clever scumbag, really only working for himself. A manipulative cheater (why do you think a 1st grader had to spell out the word sociopath in a spelling be...um...foreshadowing). Charasmatic, funny, and literally handsome, but was someone without remorse or regret who was only working for himself (and only maybe his friends).
