Horribly mismarketed
I would really like to see this film, but I can't find it subtitled in a languge I fluently understand, with the ORIGINAL FRENCH audio (and WIDESCREEN)! Here are the results of my international DVD research:
* France/Canada - ONLY French subtitles
* USA - Couldn't find, but heard it's chopped & DUBBED
* UK - ONLY English DUBBED
* Germany - ONLY German DUBBED
* Japan - Original French, dubbed/subbed in Japanese, but NO English SUBTITLES
* Korea - Original French w/Korean & English subtitles, but FULLSCREEN.
My Japanese isn't good enough to read rapid subtitles, and even though my German is really good (and Germans do a MUCH better job of dubbing than Americans), I would like to be able to switch over to the ORIGNAL FRENCH audio. (I do enjoy watching French films, too, even though I am not presently interested in learning French.) I finally found that the Korean DVD DOES have English subtitles, but it's in FULLSCREEN! Non-original FULLSCREEN is just plain evil, which I refuse to purchase!
While the idiots responsible for marketing this film abroad have succeeded in Japan, they've failed the rest of the world miserably, and have therefore missed out on a very large potential market share! (I guess Mirimax is to blame for that in the English-speaking regions.)
